Take a photo of something that you would like to use as a source of inspiration in your sketchbook - I used to love when I had the opportunity to figure draw using models and this would be a great sculpture to use to practice this skill. You can see movement and the different shapes in the body and would be fun to sketch!
Find a work that you like only a particular part of - I love the brightness of the children in the small section of the photo. They are such strong figures in a larger more abstract painting. They are not only the brightest point, but also the most detailed. It really brightens up the picture!
Find a work that you consider a good metaphor for who you are - This is me in the winter.
Find a work by an artist who was born in a place you have always wanted to or would like to visit - Vancouver - I have always wanted to go to the other side of Canada in general. Canada is such a huge country and there is so much to see and experience. I have only heard amazing things about Vancouver and would love an opportunity to go see it for myself.
Take a photo of a work you feel strongly about – I love this piece, it says so much with such a simple idea. Not only does it explore how each artist views the events of the world differently, but it makes me think of every event (sporting, musical or even political) and how everyone watches the event now through the screen on their cellphones/cameras. Not one person in this painting is watching the spaceship launch but are focused on painting the event to represent it.
Take a picture of an interesting work and write a surprising or funny caption for it - Time for Carey Price to retire.
