Upon planning an LES, it was important for our group to brainstorm several ideas in order to discover what we wanted our final theme to be. We first came up with 10 ideas that we thought would be fun ideas to explore in a classroom using different art materials, lesson plans and potential final projects.
After discussing all 10, we limited our ideas down to the best 5 we thought would be the most interesting and insightful for students. After this, it became quite clear to us which topic would be the most interesting and thought provoking to explore with students.
We then came up with several prompts we would use to hook students interests and get them thinking about the topic. We wanted to get the students thinking outside of the box- at the larger universe around them, and where exactly they fit in this world.
Below was our brainstorm:

This next picture is of our big picture brainstorm:
It lists our objectives for this LES, the 3 different lesson plans that would lead up to the creation of the students' final products.
As the students will have a choice in which kind of barrier they want to represent for their final project, for our display we all chose a separate barrier to show this idea.
At the bottom of the page, we illustrated how we would like to display it in the Education building, but it is also how we would display the students work in a school setting. By displaying it in this way, it creates a kind of unison between all of the different kinds of barriers.
